Social Entrepreneur

I believe that business has the power to solve some of society’s greatest challenges when it creates value for everyone involved. My work has been driven by a simple conviction: the people who produce wealth should also have the opportunity to own it. Rather than viewing smallholder farmers as suppliers at the edge of the economy, I have dedicated my career to building business models that position them as partners, entrepreneurs and co-owners in the value chains they help sustain.

Over the years, I have worked to bring together farmers, private enterprise and local industries in ways that create shared prosperity. By aligning commercial success with social impact, I have sought to demonstrate that sustainable development is not built on dependency, but on ownership, innovation and enterprise. When communities are empowered to participate meaningfully in the economy, they become active drivers of lasting change rather than passive recipients of assistance.

This commitment to systems change led to my recognition as an Ashoka Fellow, joining a global network of social entrepreneurs working to address society’s most pressing challenges through innovative solutions. Today, I remain committed to creating inclusive business models that strengthen rural communities, revitalize local industries and unlock opportunities for future generations across Kenya and the African continent.
