I have always believed that caring for the environment is one of the greatest investments we can make for future generations. Healthy forests, productive landscapes and thriving communities are deeply connected, and I have dedicated much of my work to restoring that balance. For me, planting trees is about far more than increasing forest cover—it is about protecting water sources, improving biodiversity, restoring degraded land and creating sustainable livelihoods for the people who depend on these natural resources every day.

Through Akili Group, I have championed initiatives that encourage communities to become active custodians of the environment. By mobilizing farmers to participate in afforestation, reforestation and landscape restoration programmes, I have worked to demonstrate that environmental conservation can also be a powerful driver of economic opportunity. Projects such as Misitu have brought together thousands of trees, committed farming families and long-term restoration efforts, proving that local communities are the most effective stewards of the ecosystems they call home.

My vision extends beyond planting individual trees to cultivating a culture of environmental responsibility. I believe that every restored forest, every rehabilitated landscape and every empowered community contributes to a healthier and more resilient future. As I continue to advocate for sustainable land management and nature-based solutions, my commitment remains unchanged: to leave behind an environment that is richer, stronger and more capable of supporting generations to come.
